We make Kafka data recoverable, and provable.
Kannika builds the production-validated data protection platform for Apache Kafka and Kafka-compatible event hubs. Enterprises across finance, energy, logistics, and manufacturing trust Kannika Armory to back up, restore, migrate, and clone their mission-critical event streams.
Why we exist
Event streaming has become the nervous system of the modern enterprise. Yet most organisations running Kafka still confuse replication with backup. Replication protects you from server failure, not from ransomware, human error, a bad deployment, or a poison message replicated instantly across every node.
We founded Kannika on a simple conviction: event-driven data deserves purpose-built protection. Not scripts. Not repurposed connectors. A platform designed from the ground up to back up multi-terabyte Kafka clusters continuously, restore them with granular control, and prove it all with audit trails that stand up to GDPR, DORA, and NIS2 scrutiny.
Because when your event streams fail, the question isn't whether you had a copy. It's how fast you can recover, and whether you can prove it.

Our story
Kannika began as a real-world problem, not a pitch deck.
Cymo, the Belgian event-driven architecture consultancy, was supporting mateco, a global leader in aerial work platform rental, as they rolled out Q.one, an end-to-end business platform built on event streaming. As Q.one expanded across countries, one thing became clear: no existing tool could properly back up and restore event-driven data. So we built one.
That solution grew into Kannika Armory, and in 2023, Kannika was spun off from Cymo as an independent software company. Today, Armory protects mission-critical event streams for enterprises across Europe and beyond, from energy providers like Engie to regulated financial infrastructure at KOR Financial, running on Apache Kafka, Confluent Cloud, AWS MSK, Azure Event Hubs, and Redpanda.
What started as one customer's backup problem is now a platform trusted where downtime and data loss are simply not an option.

What we stand for
Recovery you can prove.
Compliance isn't a checkbox for us, it's a design principle. Immutable backups, automated audit trails, and self-service restore that satisfies auditors as well as engineers.
Engineering honesty.
We tell you when another tool is the right one for the job. Our comparisons are dated, sourced, and straight. Trust is earned in the details.
Simplicity at enterprise scale.
Kubernetes-native, deployable anywhere, controlled through a GUI, REST API, or CRDs. Protecting terabytes of event data shouldn't require a team of specialists.
Born from practice.
Every feature in Armory traces back to a real production need, offset mapping, schema ID translation, environment cloning. We build what operators actually use at 3 a.m. during an incident.
The team behind Kannika

Kannika is led by its three founders, backed by a team of engineers who live and breathe event-driven architecture.

Wout Florin
Co-founder & COO
Wout drives Kannika's strategy and growth. He is passionate about helping enterprises turn event streaming from a risk into a resilient, compliant asset, from disaster recovery to regulatory readiness.
LinkedIn
Kris Van Vlaenderen
Co-founder & CPO
A highly certified software architect with decades of ICT experience, Kris shapes the Armory product: turning the hard problems of Kafka data protection, near-zero RPO, granular restore, cross-environment cloning, into capabilities any team can operate.
LinkedIn
Bryan De Smaele
Co-founder & CTO
Bryan architected Armory's Kubernetes-native foundation. Equally at home in strategic discussions and deep technical detail, he ensures the platform performs where it matters most: in production, under pressure.
LinkedInTrusted in production
Kannika Armory protects event streams for organisations in energy, logistics, financial services, automotive, and manufacturing, including Engie, mateco, and KOR Financial.
Trusted by DHL, Clearstreet, Fluvius, Glencore, bpost, OCC, mateco, TV 2, and Bankgirot.
“With each country, the number of transactions going through the platform grew, but so did the potential impact of any mistakes on our core business.”
